since most point & shoot cameras can not take photos with blurred backgrounds emphasizing the subject only unless its a macro shot... iv tried to explore photoshop for the first time to try to create the same effect to my P&S photos.

The photo I chose to experiment also had another problem, subject was darkened. So I'm also including here the link i found in correcting this kind of problem. :) Here's the link of the tutorial i found: BRIGHTEN
